KR Hoysted Construction and Landscapers Pty Ltd will begin works this November, delivering major upgrades to the area, including improved village entry, parking, and recreational spaces.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr John Forsyth, said this was a significant step forward in the Dinner Plain Activation Project Phase 2 – a $2.49M project aimed at supporting year-round visitation to the village.

"These upgrades will not only enhance the visual appeal of the area but also improve accessibility and safety for both residents and visitors," he said.

"We’re excited to see this project come to life and are confident that the contractors will deliver quality results."

The Dinner Plain Activation Project was scoped and funded with support from the Victorian Government's Bushfire Recovery Regional Economic Stimulus and Resilience Fund.

In March 2021, Council secured a $2 million grant, with additional Council contributions to ensure the project’s success.

Key improvements include:

  • A new picnic area with shelter and drinking fountain

  • Nature play areas and a children’s playground

  • Enhanced village entry and central roundabout

  • Expanded car parking, including disabled parking and designated overnight areas

  • Improved pedestrian pathways and wayfinding signage

  • A designated events area with power supply and access to amenities

To ensure the project’s full scope is realised, Council has approved an additional $561,414 from the Dinner Plain Reserve.

"We’ve worked closely with the Community Stakeholder Committee to come to the best outcome achievable for the Dinner Plain Entrance, " Cr Forsyth said.

"The improvements will make this a more vibrant and welcoming space for everyone.

"We look forward to seeing the long-term benefits these works bring to the Dinner Plain community.
