Works on the Dinner Plain Entrance Civil Works and Landscaping Project are now underway, marking an exciting milestone in the Dinner Plain Activation Project.
The upgrades are expected to take several months to complete.
The $2.49M project, funded by the Victorian Government's Bushfire Recovery Regional Economic Stimulus and Resilience Fund with additional support from Alpine Shire Council, will deliver a range of improvements, including an enhanced village entry, expanded parking, recreational spaces, and improved pathways.
Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, said the works represent a significant step forward in creating a welcoming and accessible space for residents and visitors alike.
“These upgrades will enhance the area’s visual appeal and improve accessibility and safety for everyone who visits Dinner Plain,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the benefits these improvements bring to the community and local businesses.”
Key features of the project include:
- A new picnic area with shelter and drinking fountain
- Nature play areas and a children’s playground
- Enhanced village entry and central roundabout
- Expanded car parking, including disabled and overnight spaces
- Improved pedestrian pathways and wayfinding signage
- A designated events area with power supply and access to amenities
The project was developed in consultation with the Dinner Plain Community Stakeholder Committee, ensuring community priorities are addressed.
“This has been a collaborative effort, and we’re excited to see the positive impact this project will have on the village for years to come," Cr Nicholas said.
