Cundy Park Playground in Myrtleford is back open to visitors following extensive works to repair the equipment over the past few months.
Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, acknowledged the community’s patience during the extended closure.
“We know the closure of the playground earlier this year was frustrating for many families, and we sincerely thank everyone for their understanding,” she said.
“The Cundy Park Playground is a much-loved destination for our community and visitors, and we’re excited to see all of the play equipment back open and buzzing with activity once again.”
The playground was initially closed in January this year while the Council applied for grant funding to replace the timber structure with a new, all-abilities playground.
Unfortunately, the funding application was unsuccessful. Despite this setback, Council committed to restoring the much-loved space to ensure its safety and usability.
The completed refurbishment includes structural repairs, a vibrant new coat of paint, and a fresh layer of mulch, bringing the playground back to life and ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming space for everyone.
Cr Nicholas said while Council will continue to seek funding opportunities to upgrade the playground, she was happy that it could be restored for the community in the meantime.
“We understand the disappointment that came with the longer-than-expected wait,” Cr Nicholas said.
“But I’m confident the refreshed playground will provide years of enjoyment and create even more wonderful memories for the families of Myrtleford.”
Cundy Park Playground is located at 18 O'Donnell Avenue, Myrtleford.
