The 2025/26 Budget will address a wide range of community needs, including waste management, infrastructure upgrades, community facilities, parks, libraries, recreation centres, events, and services across all life stages.

Council will consider proposals for projects on Council land or in a Council-owned facility, or relating to Council delivered services.

Council's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Will Jeremy said this year’s budget will be the first for the newly elected Council, who are keen to engage with the community on key areas to prioritise.

"Council is dedicated to balancing these services with a commitment to financial sustainability," he said.

"This is the third year we have invited community submissions for consideration in the development of the budget, and I am eager to hear from our community on what they believe should be our focus."

Community members are encouraged to provide input through Council’s Engage platform, where they can share their thoughts and see ongoing updates on the budget’s development.

Submissions will close on Monday, 16 December 2024, with all proposals then reviewed and assessed for alignment with Council's goals.

All contributors will receive responses and be informed as their proposal moves through the assessment process.

Those interested may also have the opportunity to present their ideas directly to the Council.

Community members are also invited to discuss their ideas with Councillors and Council staff at local community markets and pop-up events on the following dates:

  • Bright Make It, Bake It. Grow It Market – Saturday, 16 November – 9am-1pm

  • Myrtleford Farmers Market – Saturday, 23 November – 8.30am-12.30pm

  • Mount Beauty Market – Saturday, 7 December – 9am-1pm

These face-to-face pop-ups provide a chance to ask questions, discuss ideas, and learn more about the budget planning process.
