Construction of the Myrtleford Landfill Capping Earthworks at the Myrtleford Transfer Station will begin from Monday, 17 February 2025.
The works are expected to be completed by the end of June 2025, weather permitting.
This project is an important step in protecting the environment and ensuring the landfill meets EPA (Environment Protection Authority) regulations.
The design of the landfill cap began in October 2020, and the EPA approved the final design in August 2023.
The landfill previously accepted domestic waste in Cell 1 and Cell 2, and capping these areas is a key milestone in meeting environmental compliance.
From Monday, 24 February while construction is underway, all waste will still be accepted, but waste drop-off locations may have changed.
Visitors should follow signage and check with staff at the Transfer Station to confirm the correct drop-off points.
There will also be changes to traffic movement around the site.
We appreciate the community’s patience as we complete these essential works.
