Volunteer groups and organisations in Myrtleford and surrounds are invited to contribute to a mosaic honouring the important role of volunteers.
In collaboration with The Crackpots, Alpine Shire Council is developing a mosaic that recognises volunteers who support communities before, during, and after disasters.
The mosaic will take the form of a patchwork, with squares dedicated to volunteer groups and organisations in Myrtleford and surrounding towns. The finished product will be displayed in the Piazza as a testament to the volunteers that make up this vibrant and responsive community.
Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, emphasised the valuable contributions of volunteers and encouraged groups and organisations to put forward a tile for the mosaic.
"The work of volunteers is selfless and sometimes silent," she said.
"This mosaic is a permanent symbol of their value within the Myrtleford community and will be a beautiful reminder for years to come."
Volunteers are encouraged to design a symbol that represents their group or organisation. Simplicity is necessary to ensure that the symbols can be easily recreated with tiles.
The specifications for the design include:
- Size must be 200mm x 200mm;
- Written logos or text cannot be used; and
- The name of the group or organisation will be placed on a plaque at the bottom of the tile, but can be incorporated into the design.
Please note that The Crackpots may modify the design if required to make it work.
