Alpine Shire Council is working with North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA) and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to prevent future erosion and create sustainable aquatic habitats at Jenveys in Bright.
The riverside carpark at Jenveys will be closed from Thursday, 11 April for approximately one week to allow for the completion of these works.
As a result of the 2023 October flooding, the swimming hole sustained flood damage to the outside bend of the river, resulting in a dangerously unstable and steep concave bank.
The riverbank will be stabilised with a combination of hardwood timber brushing and rock, preventing future erosion and creating sustainable habitats for aquatic species.
Council thanks for the community for their cooperation and understanding throughout these works.
