Santa has come early to the Bright Sports Centre, taking fitness to a whole new level with the unveiling of a full gym equipment upgrade last week.
The project, driven by Alpine Shire Council, reflects the Centre's commitment to providing a modern and accessible environment where fitness is not just a routine but a way of life.
The newly installed equipment, supplied by globally renowned Matrix Fitness, includes cutting-edge cardio machines, strength training equipment, and innovative functional training tools.
Among the highlights are Matrix Endurance treadmills, ellipticals, and climbmills, as well as the Magnum MEGA Half Rack, Smith Machine, and Concept2 Row Erg.
The upgrade is part of a long-term vision to maintain the centre’s high standards while addressing safety concerns identified during a recent risk assessment.
Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, said the project strengthens the centre’s role as a community hub for health and wellness.
“Our goal has always been to create a fitness environment to help community members reach their fitness goals, and bring people together," she said.
"This upgrade ensures that our facility provides the modern equipment people expect, while prioritising safety and inclusivity.
“The new equipment offers something for everyone, from beginners to experienced athletes. It’s about supporting our community in leading healthier and more active lives.”
Bright Sports Centre Venue Manager, Matt Reed, said he's excited about the potential of the upgraded facilities to transform the way people engage with fitness.
“The new Matrix equipment offers advanced features like touch screens and virtual training, and in the new year, we’ll launch an app to help members track their progress, set goals, and even participate in fitness challenges," he said.
Mr Reed added that the new facilities align perfectly with the centre’s mission.
“We want fitness to be more than just a task – it should be an experience that people look forward to," he said.
"With this upgrade, we’re taking a big step toward making Bright Sports Centre the ultimate destination for health and wellness in Alpine Shire.”
Belgravia Leisure, which manages the Bright Sports Centre, also expressed gratitude to gym members for their patience during the installation.
“We’d like to thank our members for their understanding and support as we worked to bring these changes to life. This is your space, and we’re proud to provide you with the very best," Mr Reed said.
The installation process also included minor associated upgrades, such as electrical work and extended mirrors, ensuring the centre is ready to meet the demands of its state-of-the-art equipment.
To celebrate the upgrade, Belgravia Leisure will be hosting special deals and open days to give the community a chance to explore the new facilities.
Details will be shared on the Bright Sports Centre website and social media pages.
