Residents eligible for discount during National Desex Your Pet Month

Desexing pets is an easy, but important, way to ensure the safety of animals across the Alpine Shire.

To recognise the importance of desexing, Council is offering discounts for residents of the Alpine Shire to desex their pets during July for National Desex Your Pet month.

In conjunction with Alpine Animal Doctors and Ovens and Kiewa Veterinary Hospital, residents who have their pets registered with Council are eligible to receive a $50 discount.

This opportunity is to support pet owners to look after their cats and dogs and prevent any unwanted breeding with other pets or stray animals.

Council's Local Laws team has experienced an uptick in stray cats across the past few months, which has impacted time and resources. It also affects the environment, as these cats are forced to feed on other animals while out in the wild, including those native to Australia.

Desexing cats and dogs is one small way that residents can help to protect their pets and the environment, while also supporting the Local Laws team.

During the month of July, Council is offering a $50 discount to the first 50 Alpine Shire residents to desex their cat or dog at either Alpine Animal Doctors or Ovens and Kiewa Veterinary Hospital. This offer will apply to the first 25 residents at each vet.

Residents who book now for July will be eligible for the $50 discount.

Bookings must be made at either of the following vets:

  • Alpine Animal Doctors in Porepunkah | 03 5756 2444

  • Ovens and Kiewa Veterinary Hospital in Myrtleford | 03 5752 1235

Pets must be registered with Council to be eligible for this offer.
