The Community Local Law regulates activities and behaviour that are deemed offensive or that might place other users of Council land at risk.
Council can impose restrictions on the consumption of alcohol on public land. Council’s general restrictions on the consumption of liquor on Council land are shown in the following maps:
- Bright alcohol restriction map
- Porepunkah alcohol restriction map
- Myrtleford alcohol restriction map
- Mount Beauty alcohol restriction map
- Dinner Plain alcohol restriction map
In general, consumption of alcohol is prohibited within the defined areas between 10pm – 7am in all towns except Dinner Plain, where there is a 24 hour restriction in force (as shown in the maps).
Council may also impose additional restrictions on the consumption of alcohol on Council land, if required to manage identified risks associated with public drinking. Council may also issue permits with conditions to vary restrictions if required (for example to manage the consumption of alcohol during events).
Any additional restrictions on the consumption of alcohol will be declared by Council and publicised on Council’s website.
