How you'll make a difference
An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and dedicated Youth Development Officer to work as part of our Community Development team. You will foster professional working relationships with young people and external stakeholders including but not limited to community groups, various state and/or federal government agency staff to deliver identified projects, programs and initiatives on behalf of Council and/or the community. As part of our team you will
- Effectively engage with young people from all backgrounds from across the Alpine Shire
- Engage with schools, community groups and the business community to improve opportunities and outcomes for young people in the Alpine Shire
- Act as a conduit between young people and Alpine Shire Council
- Advocate for the rights and needs of young people
- Facilitate the development of skills and opportunities for young people
- Plan and deliver programs, events, and opportunities for young people in the Alpine Shire
- Work with and mentor young people to plan and deliver events for young people across the Alpine Shire
- Attend youth events and programs as a representative of Council
- Ensure all events, programs and initiatives delivered are safe and welcoming for young people.

- Ability to relate well to young people and understand contemporary youth related issues.

- Interpersonal skills to build positive, strong relationships with all community members including young people and other stakeholders including the youth sector, organisations and businesses.
