McNamara Reserve Netball and Tennis Facility

McNamara Reserve Netball and Tennis Facility

The McNamara Reserve Netball and Tennis Facility has reached the detailed design stage, with construction set to start in October. The anticipated project completion is April 2019.

The $500,000 project is being designed by K20 Architecture to be a best-practice family-friendly, fully accessible facility.

The new facilities will provide:

* Two family-friendly unisex change rooms;
* A unisex umpire change room;
* Two unisex accessible amenities;
* A first aid room/office; and
* Kiosk

Council recently completed an upgrade of the multi-use courts, including application of a synthetic surface and an upgrade of lighting, increasing the usage of the facilities and putting pressure on the amenities.

Replacement of the old facilities will allow the multi-use courts to be utilised to their full potential.

Council has worked closely with local sporting clubs and Sport and Recreation Victoria to provide current best practice family friendly and fully accessible facilities supporting broader community sporting participation.

The upgrade was identified as a top priority in the McNamara Recreation Reserve Masterplan and recently reconfirmed by the McNamara Reserve Committee of Management on behalf of the reserve user groups, who are each represented on the committee.

The project has been made possible through $100,000 in funding from Sports and Recreation Victoria and $400,000 from Council.
