Myrtleford Stadium almost complete

A NEW $2.6m multi-purpose stadium at the Myrtleford Showgrounds is on track for completion in August.
Alpine Shire Council Director Assets Will Jeremy said the project expands on the current stadium to create a flexible, multi-sports space.

“This is an exciting project, for the Alpine Shire sporting community and beyond,” he said.

“The roof has started going on, and the stadium is due for completion by late-August.

“This expansion will support the Myrtleford community to be healthy and active, and provide a state-of-the art sporting facility for the Alpine Shire as a whole.”

The new stadium will include a multi-sports timber sprung floor and an environmentally-friendly all timber frame construction, as well as an accessible change room with shower and two ambulant toilets.

A new meeting room will be constructed, along with an entry foyer joining the two stadiums.

The Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium Expansion project has been made possible through $1.3 million from the State Government’s Better Indoor Stadiums Fund, $1.25 million from Council and $50,000 contribution from the Myrtleford and District Basketball Association.
