Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium

The Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium Expansion has reached the detailed design stage, with construction set to start in November.

A new $2.6m multi-purpose stadium will be constructed adjoining the existing indoor stadium at the Myrtleford Showgrounds.

The expansion will support the Myrtleford community to be healthy and active, and provide a state-of-the art sporting facility for the Alpine Shire as a whole.

More than 15 local sporting and recreation groups provided letters of support for the project, showing how much desire there is in the community to expand the stadium.

With an additional court space, programming could be extended to include table tennis, indoor soccer, gymnastics, group fitness and school holiday activities, as well as expanding the existing summer basketball competition and the netball and lifeball programs.

From an economic perspective, there will be more opportunity to attract tournaments and events and bring more people to experience what the Alpine Shire has to offer as a holiday destination.

The new stadium will include:
* A multi-sports timber sprung floor;
* Environmentally-friendly all timber frame construction;
* Accessible change room with shower and two ambulant toilets;
* A new meeting room; and
* An entry foyer joining the two stadiums.

The Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium Expansion project has been made possible through $1.3 million from the State Government’s Better Indoor Stadiums Fund, $1.25 million from Council and $50,000 contribution from the Myrtleford and District Basketball Association.
