Harrietville shared trail to be resealed

15 March 2018

The Harrietville Shared Trail which runs for five kilometres, between Stony Creek and Pioneer Park in Harrietville, will be resealed next week to ensure a smooth ride for cyclists and improved safety for walkers and trail-users.

Some smaller sections of Bright’s Delany Avenue trail will also be resealed as part of the renewal project.

Works will commence in Bright on Monday, 19 March and move to Pioneer Park in Harrietville on Tuesday, 20 March. They will follow the trail south, finishing at Stony Creek. Council aims to have the works completed by Friday, 23 March in time for the weekend (weather permitting).

Project maps can be viewed here.

For the reseal, a fine layer of bitumen will be laid over the existing surface, followed by a layer of 7mm nominal size stone. The current surface is a 7mm nominal size stone so the end result will be very similar to the current surface. Some loose stone will initially remain on the path surface following the reseal however this will be cleared shortly after. The path will be in great condition for the Easter holiday season.

In order to ensure the safety of trail users, it will be necessary to close specific sections of the path to cyclists and pedestrians for short periods of time (typically 10-15 minutes, however potentially up to 30 minutes over longer sections).

Vehicle access across the path will be maintained at all times. On-site workers will be able to update trail users of anticipated delay times upon request.

We thank all users for their patience and cooperation during these necessary renewal works.
