Alpine Shire Australia Day Community Awards winners

26 January 2018

Individuals and community groups have been recognised for their invaluable contribution to their communities this Australia Day.

The annual Alpine Shire Australia Day Community Awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of outstanding residents.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Ron Janas said Australia Day is a time to recognise the achievements of people who give their time and resources to make our communities special.

“Congratulations to everyone who received an award, and to all those nominated,” he said.

“We rely on nominations from our community to help us recognise these unsung heroes, who often give so much of their time to help others, so thank you to everyone who nominated this year.

“It’s fantastic to see the diversity of individuals and groups who have been recognised.

“We have some truly inspirational residents in the Alpine Shire, like our Alpine Shire Citizen of the Year, Marnie Broz, who was also awarded the Myrtleford and District Local Achiever of the Year.

“Marnie’s commitment and contribution to the Myrtleford and Alpine Shire community is astonishing. As a committee member for the Myrtleford Lions Club, McNamara Reserve, Myrtleford P-12 College, Myrtleford Lawn Tennis Club and Myrtleford Football Netball Club, Marnie gives much of her time volunteering and supporting the local community.

“These awards also celebrate our young people for playing an important part in their communities – congratulations to Dylan Sgambelloni, Tyra Hunt and Louise Saric – for being awarded the local young achiever for their district.
