Design for the new Multipurpose Facility at the Alpine Events Park, Bright

Construction of a new multipurpose facility in Bright and design work for two sporting facilities in Myrtleford will begin this month, with Alpine Shire Council formally awarding the contracts this week.

Before the end of September, building contractors Barton St. Developments will begin construction of the new Alpine Events Park Multipurpose Facility located at the Bright Pioneer Park Recreational Reserve. Councillors awarded the $1.82 million contract at the monthly Council meeting held on Tuesday 5 September 2017.

The development will involve restoration of the heritage-protected grandstand, the demolition of the old pavilion, the expansion of the lower change rooms and a new upper level facility capable of hosting meetings and events.

Construction of the lower level change rooms is scheduled to be completed in time for Easter 2018 and available for use during the football season while works continue on the upper level.

The new facility is part of Alpine Shire Council’s $3.74 million Alpine Events Park project, which was awarded a $1.87 million grant from the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s National Stronger Regions Fund.

Councillors also awarded the design contracts for two sporting facilities in Myrtleford to K20 Architecture. Under the contract, K20 will design the expanded Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium as well as a new McNamara Reserve Multi-Sports Facility to replace the existing amenities block.

The Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium will be expanded to include an additional 900m2 multi-use court space with sprung timber floor as well as new ambulant toilets, a covered entrance, store room, 40 unsealed car spaces as well as evaporative cooling.

At McNamara Reserve, the new building will include two change rooms with showers and toilets, an umpire change room with shower, one fully accessible toilet with a shower, a kiosk as well as an office with a first-aid station.
