Have your say on Hydro Park

MOUNT Beauty residents – does the name “Hydro Park” have a nice ring to it?

Alpine Shire Council is seeking feedback on the proposal to name the park at the southern end of the Mount Beauty Swimming Pool.

Council’s Director Sustainable Development Heather Green said the name “Hydro Park” was being proposed as a reflection of the town’s history.

“The name is proposed as it pays homage to the fact that the town and community was established by families who came to develop the Kiewa Hydro Scheme,” she said.

“The Upper Kiewa Valley Community Association carried out a lot of engagement with the community and gathered a shortlist of names.

“After testing a few options they came to us with Hydro Park. It has a nice connection to the history of the town.

“Anyone who wishes to comment on the proposed name is welcome to contact us over the next few weeks.”

The existing park is located on Lakeside Avenue, at the southern end of the swimming pool.

Council invites public comment, in writing, regarding the proposed park name. Submissions should be sent to Council by the close of business on Friday, 19 August via email at submissions@alpineshire.vic.gov.au or in hard copy to:
