Myrtleford Skate Park upgrade officially opens this Friday

30 November 2015

Alpine Shire residents are being invited to attend the official opening of the Myrtleford Skate Park upgrade this Friday.

The Skate Park received a $160,000 upgrade which was funded by Alpine Shire Council, the Victorian Government’s Community Facility Funding program and the community.

The upgrade includes the addition of a 3.5 metre-wide concrete path connecting the existing mini-ramp and the new bowl, new drainage infrastructure, various changes to the skating features, painting of the existing ramps, new signage and additional lighting funded through the Safer Places program.

Mayor Ron Janas said the upgrade of the Skate Park has given the youth of the Alpine Shire a high-quality skating facility.

“This upgrade is a great outcome for the young people of Myrtleford and the skating facility is now a real showpiece for Cundy Park,” Cr Janas said.

“The community has put in a tremendous effort to drive this initiative over many years to get it to where it is today, particularly the young people and their parents.”

Cr Janas thanked the state government for its contribution to the project.

“The funding from the Victorian Government’s Community Facility Funding program enabled us to complete this amazing project,” he said.

“The project team has done a great job and have completed the project on time and on budget.”

The Myrtleford Skate Park Grand Opening celebrations will be on from 5pm – 7pm on December 4, at the Skate Park and guests can enjoy a sausage and live entertainment.
