Mount Beauty Progressing Place Civil Works to start next week

Progressing Place kerb and roadworks to begin next week

Roads, kerbs, parking and landscaping will soon be improved with civil works beginning in Mount Beauty early next week.

Alpine Shire Council Director Assets Charlie Bird said as part of Mount Beauty’s $875,000 Progressing Place Project, significant improvements would be made to the town centre’s road and streetscape conditions, beginning with kerb and parking works in Park Street next Monday, November 30.

“Kerb works and additional parking in Park Street will be the first of three stages to improve parking, road and traffic conditions in Mount Beauty,” he said.

“Works in Park Street will create indented parallel parking and the addition of two angle cark parks in Hollonds Street.

“At this stage we envisage the Park Street civil works to be completed before Christmas and all kerb works in the town centre will stop over the Christmas and summer holiday period so there’s no disruption to traffic.”

Park Street Reserve landscape works will be carried out from mid-January.

“The only work that will be carried out during the peak tourist period will be the Park Street Reserve landscape works which need to be completed so the Lakeview Children’s Centre can use this space as part of its relocation to the Community Centre,” Mr Bird said.

Mr Bird said works will also be carried out in Kiewa Crescent and Hollonds Street.

“Kerb works in Kiewa Crescent will commence in early February and once those works are completed the Lakeside Avenue and Hollonds Street intersection improvement works will commence and at this stage we are anticipating that will happen in March,” he said.

“Landscape and asphalting works will follow the kerb works of each stage.”
