Sandy Beach upgrade

Feedback wanted on plans for Sandy Beach

Alpine Shire Council is urging residents to voice their views on improving the Sandy Beach area at Nimmo Bridge in Myrtleford.

Council’s Mayor Jan Vonarx said young people in Myrtleford had highlighted an upgrade to Sandy Beach as a priority project for them during the Tomorrow Towns and Raise Your Voice workshops held in June.

“We listened, and this year we have sought management of this area from the State Government and are improving the road and parking areas, and planting more trees,” she said.

“What we need to know are the other things that might need to be done to make this place special for all users – young and old.”

Cr Vonarx said this was the perfect opportunity for the young people of Myrtleford to have their voices heard.

“We want to know what you all want so that when we begin planning the project we can factor in what you tell us so it can become what you want,” she said.

“We recognise that the youth should have a say in what happens in their town.

“We are really keen to meet with young people who love this place and use it regularly over summer to help us plan other improvements.”

If you are keen to be involved in the planning please contact Jenny Corser, Youth Development Officer, on 5755 0524, or jennyc@alpineshire.vic.gov.au.
