Mudgegonga to host Resilience Month activities

Alpine Shire Council is encouraging community members to take part in up-and-coming activities during Resilience Month this October.

The Community Awareness Fair is on this Saturday, October 17, from 10am – 3pm at the Mudgegonga Hall and Council’s Community Development Officer Jan Mock said a wide range of information would be available throughout the day.

“There will be three fire planning and awareness sessions, at 10.30am, 11.30am and 1.45pm, and people can learn about preparing for the upcoming fire season and writing their fire plans,” she said.

“At 10.30am and 11.30am, Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources District Veterinary Officer Wangaratta – Benalla Dr John Ryan will be discussing farm biosecurity and how to care for stock during an emergency, and Landcare will be discussing wild dog and fox control throughout the day.”

The new Mudgegonga CFA training and planning room will also be officially opened at 1.15pm.

A free barbeque lunch will be provided.
