Awards to celebrate local businesses

19 August 2015

LOCAL businesses will be recognised for their contribution to the community at the upcoming 2015 Alpine Shire Business and Tourism Awards, which are now open for nominations.

There are more than 800 businesses operating across the shire, and the biennial awards celebrate those that demonstrate outstanding and encouraging leadership in the local business community.

Businesses will be assessed by three independent judges and evaluated on their business goals, strategies, marketing and collaboration.

Alpine Shire Council Manager Economic and Community Development, Elaine Burridge, said it was important to recognise the hard work of local business people.

“By recognising outstanding local businesses we are acknowledging their immense contribution to our community,” she said.

“The awards evening also provides business owners with a valuable networking opportunity, encouraging collaboration and ensuring a united business community.”

Nominations are open to all commercial businesses in the Alpine Shire.

The stand-out business is awarded Business of the Year, while the community has the chance to cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award. Many generous local sponsors have provided prizes for the winners of each category.

The awards evening will take place on Thursday, 15 October at the Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm. Tickets are now available to purchase through the Alpine Shire Council website.
