Maternal and Child Health brochure makes finding information easier

2 April 2015

NEW parents will now have more information at their fingertips with the introduction of the Alpine Shire Maternal and Child Health brochure.

The brochure outlines what the Maternal and Child Health Service provides for new families and key visits in the first few years of a child's life.

Alpine Mayor, Cr Jan Vonarx said the fact that the brochure is available at different venues in each town, such as Alpine Children’s Services, doctors’ clinics, Community Health centres, libraries and playgroups, means more people will hear about the service.

“Having the brochure more widely available is aimed at increasing the community’s knowledge of the Maternal and Child Health service so that people can help someone who may be unsure of the referral pathway,” Cr Vonarx said.

“This is a vital service, but new families to the area may not know how to access it. The Maternal and Child Health nurses provide home visits, support at key developmental stages for the children and linking to other support services for the parents and other family members,” she said.

The brochure is also available on the Shire’s website.
