Street art workshop to put creative spin on skate event

17 April 2014

THE upcoming Mount Beauty Skate Event will provide young visitors with the perfect location to listen to live music, impress with their skate, scoot and BMX skills and try their hand at street-style art.

The newest addition to the event’s line-up is a free street art workshop with local artist Chris Henderson, where participants can create their own unique artwork on canvas.

Alpine Shire Council Youth Development Officer Ebony Buckley said the work will then be exhibited at sites across the Alpine Shire before being returned to the artists.

“This is a great way to learn some new skills and be creative in a really relaxed, enjoyable environment,” she said.

“The workshop and all materials are free and we’re really looking forward to seeing what fantastic artwork our young people can create.”

The Mount Beauty Skate Event will be held from 5pm – 9pm at the Mount Beauty Skate Park, Lakeside Avenue.

The art workshop will run from 4.30 – 7pm at the same venue. Entry to the Skate Event and arts workshop are free.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Mount Beauty Music Festival. Student tickets to the Music Festival (13 – 17yrs) cost just $20 to access the whole weekend of entertainment. For more information visit www.musicmuster.org.au.
