Myrtleford Skate Park project takes a step forward

14 April 2014

A REVAMP of the Myrtleford Skate Park is one step closer to reality, with Council beginning the next phase of community consultation in coming weeks.

The State Government committed $100,000 towards redeveloping the park in late 2013, under its 2014/15 Community Facilities Funding Program.

Council recently received the funds, and will contribute a further $60,000 from its Capital Works budget.

The $10,000 balance of the $170,000 project will be provided through community support and in-kind contributions.

Manager Project Delivery John Carter said work could now begin on finalising a design with the help of the Myrtleford Skate Park Reference Group.

“We have a design that was used to apply for the funding – the next step is to decide whether we proceed with that design or whether the needs of the community have changed and we rework it,” he said.

“We will meet with members of the reference group to ensure we arrive at a design that caters to the needs of users of the skate park now and into the future.

“Once the design is established we can go to tender and secure a contractor to carry out the works.”
