The Rukkus set to please

THE Rukkus - Alpine Battle of the Bands, coupled with the Myrtleford Skate Event, promises to entertain young sports and music lovers this long weekend.

Young musicians, riders and skaters will battle it out from 5pm – 9pm at Myrtleford’s Cundy Park on Saturday, 8 March.

Melbourne band My Echo will headline the free event, and a strong line-up of performers will compete for a place in the Hume Regional Battle of the Bands.

Alpine Shire Council Youth Development Officer Ebony D’Arcy said the event provided locals and visitors with something geared towards young people.

“We’re holding this event at the same time as the Myrtleford Festival, and we’re very happy to be adding a youth-oriented event to the festivities of the long weekend,” she said.

“By holding the skate series and Battle of the Bands together, we’re aiming to create an event that is doubly appealing and a lot of fun.”

Entry is free. Food and drinks will be available to purchase on-site.

This is a drug and alcohol free event, funded by the State Government’s FReeZA program and organised by Indigo and Alpine Shire Councils.
