Bright River Pool lifeguards extended

28 January 2014

THE Bright River Pool will be manned with lifeguards over the weekend to help locals and visitors cool down safely.

With temperatures anticipated to reach 40 degrees over the weekend, the lifeguard hours have been extended to cater for the heat.

Alpine Shire Council Manager Communities Kathryn Maxwell said that Council’s lifeguards normally finished after the Australia Day long weekend.

“We expect a high number of people to make use of the Bright River Pool on the weekend,” she said.

“Our Porepunkah lifeguards have finished for the season, but we decided to keep Bright open for the extra weekend.”

Lifeguards will man the Bright River Pool from 2pm – 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The Bright Toddler Pool has been closed following issues with the filtration system, however the Porepunkah Toddler Pool remains in operation.

“We also encourage anyone with small children to make use of the Bright Sports Centre Pool, which has a nice light-filled pool area that is out of the sun,” Ms Maxwell said.
