Draft Fire Plan Ready for public comment

A DRAFT Municipal Fire Management Plan (MFMP) which sets out a new approach to fire management across the Alpine Shire is now available for community comment.

The plan puts in place an integrated fire management strategy for the shire, as recommended by the Victorian Bushfire Royal Commission Report.

Alpine Shire Council Director Infrastructure Services Ian Ellett said the plan also links into the Hume Regional Strategic Fire Management Plan to enable planning across municipalities.

“As a municipality that has been affected by bushfires in the past, this document is very valuable for future bushfire management,” he said.

“We’re encouraging anyone who wishes to have input to submit their comments during the public exhibition period.”

The draft plan is available for community comment online here.

Feedback can be provided by emailing info@alpineshire.vic.gov.au or by mail to Alpine Shire Council, P.O Box 139, Bright, Vic, 3741.

Printed copies are available at the Alpine Shire Council Offices, Great Alpine Rd Bright and Mount Beauty and Myrtleford libraries.
