Time to nominate for the 2012 Alpine Youth Awards

THE annual Alpine Shire Youth Council Youth Awards recognise young Alpine Shire residents who have contributed to or excelled in their chosen field.

Council’s Manager Communities Alison Banks said the awards were a fantastic way for local young people to be celebrated for their achievements.

“This is a great awards program recognising the abilities of our young people across a range of categories,” she said.

“We all know a young person who deserves to be acknowledged for their hard work and this is the perfect opportunity to nominate them.”

Nominations are now open in seven categories: Arts Award, Eco Award, Group Project Award, Inspirational Achiever Award, Excellence in Sport Award, Community Youth Award and Workplace Excellence Award.

All nominees are also eligible for the Alpine Shire Award (12 – 17 years) and Alpine Shire Award (18 – 25 years), which recognises a young person who has made a valuable contribution and consistent effort in various aspects of their life.

Nominations close Friday, 5 October 2012.

Results will be announced at an awards night on Friday, 19 October at the Mount Beauty Community Centre.
