Your chance to shape the future of recreation

ALPINE Shire Council is calling for the community to help guide the future of recreation and open spaces across the shire.

Residents are invited to share their views as part of the development of the Alpine Shire Recreation and Open Space Plan.

Council’s Strategic Project Officer – Recreation and Leisure Stephen Henderson said the plan will establish what recreation opportunities exist and what the community believe need to be added or improved.

“If you take part in active or passive recreation or make use of open spaces such as parks, ovals, tracks and trails, we need your feedback to make sure this plan reflects your needs,” he said.

“The plan is a strategic document that will guide Council and the community in decision making for priorities across a range of recreational activities across the Alpine Shire and will incorporate the updated Master Plans for each of the shire’s recreation reserves.”

Mr Henderson said surveys will be sent to 2000 households in coming weeks.

“This is a major project for the shire and we are keen for the community, organisation and committees to get involved,” he said.

“We’re asking people to complete the survey and return it to us – that way we can really get a good idea on what the community wants from its recreation and open spaces.

“Community and sporting groups are also invited to take part and submit their requirements before the development of this document.”
