Council’s original approach to draft budget exhibition

IN an innovative approach to informing the community on the release of the draft 2012/13 Budget, Council has released a video clip on YouTube.

The clip aims to inform members of the community who may not otherwise access the budget document and encourage them to make comment should they wish.

Council’s Manager Corporate Services Luke Taberner said the video broke down the key points of the budget into an easy to understand format.

“We’ve used the same traditional approaches such as newspaper advertising and online availability, but this year we wanted to add to that and do something new,” he said.

“This is a great way for people to hear directly from the mayor and staff on how rates are spent and why.

“We’re aiming to reach new audiences with this clip and encourage people who may never have considered commenting on the draft budget before to realise that they are directly affected.”

The clip can be accessed here.
