Volunteers celebrated

LOCAL volunteers were praised for their dedication to delivering meals to elderly residents at an afternoon on Wednesday, 18 April.

More than 20 Meals on Wheels volunteers took part in the afternoon tea, which hailed their vital assistance for those members of the community who need it most.

Council’s Manager Alpine@home Craig Cross said along with being well-deserved, the afternoon tea was also a way to keep volunteers up to date with the community care services available.

“This is a great way to let our volunteers know what is happening with the Alpine@home Community Care service, because they’re a valuable point of contact to clients,” he said.

“Here at Alpine@home we are looking to develop our engagement with our volunteers and encourage more volunteers to get on board.

“We always welcome new people who wish to volunteer, whether it’s for Meals on Wheels, our Activity Groups or Palliative Care.”

Anyone wishing to volunteer can contact HACC Administration Officer Helen Johnson on 5755 0142.
