Damaged section of Gundowring Road to be repaired

A 980m section of Gundowring Road will be rehabilitated to address a series of pavement failures brought on by a combination of increased heavy vehicle usage and a return to wetter climatic conditions.

Significant works to improve drainage of this section of road have recently been completed.

Council this month awarded the tender to repair the section, around 250m from the intersection with Keegans Lane, Upper Gundowring, to Walsh Earthmoving Pty Ltd.

Council’s Director Infrastructure Services Ian Ellett said the road had been subject to pavement and surface failure and required ongoing maintenance to keep it in a good trafficable state.

“The funding for this project has been sourced from the State Government’s Country Roads and Bridges Initiative funding program,” he said.

“The total value of this project is $210,000, including drainage works, and has been identified as a priority of Council’s Road Management system to maintain and improve the condition of the road network for users.

“The work has been scheduled for completion before the end of April.”
