Alpine Shire locals needed to lead fight against cancer

CANCER Council Victoria is calling on Alpine Shire locals to support the 78 Alpine Shire residents diagnosed with cancer each year by taking a lead role in tomorrow’s Alpine Shire Relay For Life.

As Relay For Life team captains, volunteers will be asked to rally a group of friends and family to participate in the overnight event this weekend.

Alpine Shire Relay For Life is suitable for everyone, and is an opportunity for us to band together and celebrate with cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against cancer.

Alpine Shire Relay For Life will see teams of locals taking turns to walk or run through the night to raise funds.

The money raised will fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs to help Alpine Shire residents reduce their cancer risk, and provide support services for people facing cancer.

Alpine Shire Relay For Life will be held at Pioneer Park, Bright, and will commence with a Survivors and Carers Walk at 4pm on Saturday.

If you would like to enter a team in the event, registrations will be taken from 2pm on Saturday at Pioneer Park, Bright.

The event, which features special ceremonies, entertainment, and festivities, will continue through the night until 10am on Sunday.

Onlookers and supporters are welcome.
