Council tackles ageing infrastructure

THE planned replacement of an old drain pipe under Lakeside Avenue, Mount Beauty, is expected to see a temporary closure of the road when the project kicks off.

A two metre deep corrugated iron drain pipe under Lakeside Avenue, adjacent to the CFA building, needs to be removed and replaced.

Council’s Director Infrastructure Services Ian Ellett said the job was currently out to tender and a contractor will soon be selected.

“This work will most likely necessitate the temporary closure of the road during daylight hours for one or two days,” he said.

“During this time traffic detours will be in place.

“The works will start as soon as the contractor is available and after due notice is given to emergency services and school bus services.”

Residents and road users are advised to watch out for road signage and notices advising of the days of the road closure in coming weeks.
