Have your say on the climate by November 16, 2011

RESIDENTS of the Alpine Shire and Alpine Resorts are being asked to complete an online survey as part of the North East Greenhouse Alliance’s current project.

Council’s Chief Executive Officer Ian Nicholls said the project will identify social and economic impacts of a variable climate and develop local solutions to help residents and business prepare and adjust.

“The project asks the questions – How does a variable climate affect people, their families and their communities? How have they dealt with the effects of this variable climate? Which are the sectors of the community most vulnerable to a variable climate, and what can be done to assist these sectors?” Mr Nicholls said.

“Failure to prepare for the impacts of a variable climate is like preparing to fail. We believe people living in the northeast want local government and government agencies to work together to find solutions that will minimise the financial and emotional cost for them.

“We are offering a range of opportunities for people in business and the community to be involved and all of these opportunities pose the same questions."
