Get snapping - more prizes on offer in Council's photography competition

Alpine Shire Council will again run its popular annual Snapshot photography competition, this year offering more prizes for photographers and extending the time for entries.

Alpine Mayor, Cr Nino Mautone said the competition attracted more than 100 photos each year and visually engaged members of the community who may not be involved with Council in other ways.

"The Alpine Snapshot competition aims to get the community to show us what they love about life in the Shire and to take photos of the people and scenery that inspires them," Cr Mautone said.

"This year Council is offering a first prize of a $1000 Dahlsens' voucher to the photographer whose photo is selected to appear on the cover. as well as a $50 voucher (to be spent in a local business) for each photographer whose photo ends up appearing on one of the months of the calendar," he said.

The competition is open from 1 April to 30 June.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to show us what they love about the Shire and it will also support Council's Buy Local program."

The competition is open to people of all ages as long as they are residents or ratepayers of the Shire and their photos feature Shire landmarks or activities.

For all the details, including photo specifications, please pick up a competition handbook at Council's Bright office or Service Centres in Dinner Plain, Mount Beauty or Myrtleford or from one of Council's three Visitor Information Centres.
