Alpine now has seven places of last resort

Alpine Shire Council, which has already declared five Neighbourhood Safer Places, on Tuesday added the Mount Beauty Sports Stadium and the Tawonga Memorial Hall to its list, bringing the total to seven.

Council CEO, Ian Nicholls said Council was continuing to work with Country Fire Authority (CFA) personnel on defining a Neighbourhood Safer Place for Dinner Plain.

"We now have seven Neighbourhood Safer Places in the Shire. Staff and the CFA have been busy undertaking these assessments behind the scenes and continue to work on establishing them for other communities, including Dinner Plain," Mr Nicholls said.

The full list of Neighbourhood Safer Places, or places of last resort, in the Alpine Shire currently includes:

Dederang Dederang Recreation Reserve and Memorial Hall
Harrietville Harrietville Hall
Mount Beauty Mount Beauty Sports Stadium
Myrtleford RC McNamara Reserve and Ablett Pavilion
Porepunkah Porepunkah Hall and oval
Tawonga Tawonga Memorial Hall

Mr Nicholls reminded residents and visitors that Neighbourhood Safer Places are intended as places of last resort.
