Two Alpine businesses are finalists in National Tourism Awards

Two businesses operating in the Alpine Shire are finalists in the National Tourism Awards, the winners of which will be announced tonight.

Bogong Horseback Adventures and Ovens Valley Motor Inn were the Victorian finalists in their respective categories after having been named winners of their section in the Victorian Tourism Awards at the end of last year.

Alpine Mayor, Cr Nino Mautone said he wished both businesses well for the awards night, which is being held tonight in Hobart.

"This is a great achievement for both businesses and speaks volumes about the owners' dedication and their attention to their customers' needs. They should be proud of their achievements to date and Council congratulates them. We look forward to hearing news of the judges' decision later today," Cr Mautone said.

Great Alpine Valleys Tourism Board chair, John Kroeger said the businesses' achievement puts the whole region on the map.

"It's fantastic that our local tourism products are competing on the national stage and this brings awareness of the quality of the tourism products on offer here. Everyone should applaud their initiative in positioning their businesses nationally," Mr Kroeger said.
