Local seniors ageing in spectacular fashion

A CALENDAR featuring local talent re-enacting iconic Australian movies has been launched as a way to celebrate positive ageing.

Alpine Shire Council’s Positive Ageing – Way to Go! 2015 Calendar was launched at Cloud 9 Cinema in Bright on Monday, 1 December.

The glossy calendar features Alpine Shire residents dressed as characters from famous Australian movies – Crocodile Dundee, The Man from Snowy River, Mad Max and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert all feature.

Positive Ageing Officer Pat Easterbrook said the calendar was a fun and creative way to celebrate ageing in a positive way.

“Everyone involved in shooting the calendar had an absolute ball,” she said.

“The end result is spectacular and such an original way to show what our older residents are capable of – having a laugh, enjoying themselves and celebrating all the great things that come with getting older.”

The calendar was photographed at the Bright Community Centre over the course of a day in mid-September. Graphic designers W Media set the images against iconic backdrops.

Calendars are available for purchase for $10 a copy at the Bright Council Offices, Bright Library and Visitor Information Centre, Harrietville General Store, Myrtleford Library, Post Office and VIC and Curl Care Hairdresser, as well as the Mount Beauty VIC.
